HOW CAN I HELP?

Laura Walsh, Therapist

Do you feel you need some support or someone to talk to?  There are lots of reasons you might choose to come to therapy and here are some examples;

  • You want more confidence and self-love

  • You want to be more boundaried and stand up for yourself

  • You want to speak up and express yourself more

  • You're having problems in relationships with family members, often a parent

  • You're having problems in romantic or sexual relationships

  • You have co-dependent traits in relationships

  • You're having problems at work

  • You're having problems with emotions (overwhelmed, blocked or bottled up)

  • You want to understand the impact your childhood had on you and the person you are

  • You want to talk through another part of your life

  • You want to understand yourself and who you are

  • You're suffering from anxiety or stress

  • You feel depressed

  • Unhelpful patterns or experiences keep repeating themselves

  • You’re having trouble making a decision

  • You want to get clearer on what you want in life

In therapy we're processing experiences, thoughts and feelings.  We’re understanding more about how past experiences have shaped who we are and the lives we’re living.  We’re making the unconscious, conscious and as a result we have greater awareness and therefore greater choice.

Sometimes you just want to talk something through and be listened to in a supportive, non-judgemental way.  However, therapy also brings the possibility of change.  It brings the opportunity to discover parts of ourselves we didn't know we had, parts which give us access to helpful resources and new ways of expressing.  Through therapy we have the potential to develop new and more effective ways of being.

PRACTICALITIES

Sessions can be face to face in Paddington (W2), Clapham Common (SW4) or online and are £50 an hour.

When you complete my contact form I'll call you to find out more about the support you're looking for.  We'll then have an initial session where I'll take a personal history from you and you will have the opportunity to ask questions. If we're both happy to proceed, we would agree a number of sessions to begin with, usually eight. These first eight sessions allow us to get to know each other, and start to explore what you have come to therapy for, after which we can both decide whether to continue our work together. There are no right or wrong answers as to how many sessions there should be. The length of the therapy is tailored to you and what you are looking for from therapy.

Sessions would take place on a weekly basis on the same day and time each week.
